LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has a focused main-campaign cast. LEGO’s official FAQ names seven playable characters, each with their own skills, progression tree, combos and gadgets. This page summarizes that confirmed roster; it does not provide every character’s unlock mission or prerequisites.

Confirmed Main Campaign Characters

CharacterWhat the official FAQ confirms
BatmanPlayable; the Batclaw is named as a signature gadget.
RobinPlayable; the cable launcher is named as a signature gadget.
NightwingPlayable; included among Bruce Wayne’s allies.
BatgirlPlayable; included among Bruce Wayne’s allies.
Jim GordonPlayable; the foam sprayer is named as a signature gadget.
CatwomanPlayable; her whip is named as a signature gadget.
Talia al GhulPlayable; included in the main-story campaign description.

The shared promise of unique abilities is official information, not a tested ranking. Without verified individual mission conditions, we cannot tell you that a particular chapter unlocks Nightwing or that a collectible unlocks Talia. The earlier version of this page promised a complete unlock walkthrough without supplying those answers; that promise has been removed.

Characters, Outfits and Additional Content Are Different

The official Standard Edition description includes the main campaign and 100 suits and outfits. Alternate costumes do not mean 100 separate playable characters. LEGO says outfits can be earned through the story campaign, but this overview does not list the acquisition condition of every suit.

The Deluxe Edition’s Mayhem Collection is separately advertised with Joker and Harley Quinn as playable characters in Mayhem Mode, plus a new story mission. LEGO lists that collection for September 2026. This is the published content description, not confirmation that we have tested its current availability on every platform. Do not count those extras as part of the seven-character original campaign roster or assume ownership of the Standard Edition includes them.

How to Use This Information

  • If your purchase decision depends on a specific character, distinguish the main campaign from paid additional modes before choosing an edition.
  • Use the in-game mission instructions and character menu for your current progression. This page does not establish an unlock order or claim all characters become available in the early chapters.
  • For a blocked puzzle, read its actual ability requirement rather than assuming every obstacle requires an unrecruited hero.
  • Check the edition and platform listing: the official FAQ gives May 22, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, while its Nintendo Switch 2 information has separate availability wording.

Source and Limits

Reviewed on 7 October 2026: LEGO’s official game page and FAQ, especially “Which characters will be playable?”, “What content is included?” and “Can playable characters be customized?”. No first-hand play session, build number, chapter-by-chapter unlock verification or DLC entitlement test is claimed.
