Extraction is a decision, not just an escape

ARC Raiders alternates preparation in the underground community of Speranza with raids on a surface occupied by ARC machines and rival Raiders. You craft, repair and upgrade equipment, gather resources and complete trader quests, then decide when to extract. Its editorial appeal is the connection between preparation and risk: finding valuable loot changes the cost of another fight or another detour.

The official description supports that loop, but this is not a hands-on assessment of gunplay, server quality or matchmaking. Consider it if planning an exit sounds as interesting as winning a fight; skip it if equipment losses and rebuilding would make the session frustrating.

Solo entry does not mean offline or PvE-only

Steam describes solo play or squads of up to three. Machines and other players share the surface, so cooperating with your squad does not remove hostile players. Do not buy it expecting a quiet offline story campaign or a purely cooperative PvE mode.

The publisher confirms cross-platform social play across PC, PlayStation and Xbox, and lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S alongside PC stores. Steam records October 30, 2025 as the PC release date. The PC listing has Spanish (Spain) interface and subtitles, but no Spanish voice acting; check your console edition separately.

Buying and the dated free-play window

The full game is paid and Steam lists in-game purchases. Deluxe adds cosmetics and 2,400 Raider Tokens; compare the items you will use with your regional price instead of assuming Deluxe is needed to begin.

The official announcement scheduled full-game free access on Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S from October 8, 2026 at 09:00 UTC to October 12 at 08:00 UTC. It specifies a €0.25 exception for PS5 in Germany. This is a dated promotional window, not a permanent free-to-play conversion or a standalone demo. After that window, do not rely on an old “play free” headline to establish access.

Frozen Trail 2.0 changes older advice

The October 8, 2026 patch adds Pendola Pass, enemies and a revamped skill tree. It also removes the specific Solo vs. Squads matchmaking option; that is not an announcement removing solo entry altogether.

Pendola Pass tests Dynamic Loot Zones, where an area’s loot value can vary between raids without changing its underlying loot type. An old farming route therefore does not guarantee the same return. Skill choices and trader offers also changed, so advice written for launch needs a version check. Our beginner guide focuses on preparation and decisions rather than claiming a universal optimal build.

PC requirements and installation conditions

Steam lists updated 64-bit Windows 10 or later, DirectX 12 and broadband internet:

  • Minimum: Core i5-6600K or Ryzen 5 1600, 12 GB RAM, GTX 1050 Ti, RX 580 or Intel Arc A380.
  • Recommended: Core i5-9600K or Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB RAM, RTX 2070, RX 5700 XT or Intel Arc B570.

These are published requirements, not measured frame rates or evidence that an integrated GPU is suitable. Steam also declares kernel-level anti-cheat and says it requires manual removal after uninstalling the game. Check that installation condition if it matters to you; this overview does not assess its security.

Alternatives and editorial limits

The linked alternatives offer different compromises: Escape from Tarkov is another extraction comparison, Road to Vostok changes the online-versus-solo question, and Apex Legends is a team battle royale rather than the same extraction loop. Do not treat them as interchangeable modes of ARC Raiders.

Documentary review: October 11, 2026, using the publisher, Steam and the dated patch notes above. The difficulty judgment describes competitive risk, not a measured playtest. We have not tested performance, servers or raid duration, and do not assign a campaign completion time to a repeatable online game.
